Underscoring the scientific rigor and innovation of our products and processes, Botanic Oil Innovations has several patents pending.
Initial Patent
A patent application entitled Composition Method Of Cancer Treatment was submitted in April 2004 and makes claims on the use of the potent antioxidant oils for immune system support and for the use in the proprietary cancer biotherapy. Arnold Leonard, M.D., Ph.D., Daniel Saltzman, M.D., Ph.D., and Mark Mueller are named as inventors on the patent application.Since 2001, our company has been working closely with Drs. Leonard and Saltzman of the University of Minnesota Medical School to introduce potent antioxidant oils into an innovative cancer biotherapy that has been under research and development for more than fifteen years. The material under study seeks out cancer tumors, and repetitive double-blind animal trials have been undertaken over the years. The research has demonstrated in animals that the potent antioxidant oils boost the immune system and the oils have been found to be an essential and synergistic adjunct to this biotherapy.
The patent application has been assigned to the Company. As of this date, the US Patent Office has not responded to the patentability of the invention.
Second Patent
The Company submitted a second patent application in 2005 making claims for the use of a proprietary blend of black raspberry seed oil and black cumin oil as a dietary supplement to boost the immune system. The application is entitled Immune Enhancement by Seed Oil and or Seed Flour. As of this date, the US Patent Office has not responded and no patent has been granted. In 2006 a provisional patent application was submitted when a discovery was made that black cumin oil acts synergistically with other oils to create a super-potent antioxidant oil. Subsequently in 2007 a full patent application was submitted entitled Creation of Super Potent Antioxidant Cold Pressed Oils through Synergy. As of this date, the US Patent Office has not responded and no patent has been granted.
Also in 2006 a patent application was submitted through the University of Maryland for Use of Cold-Pressed Edible Seed Oils, Flours and /or Blends and/or Blends Thereof as Anti-Inflammatory Agents and Cox-2 Inhibitors. Under a license agreement, the Company has the exclusive rights to the invention which is based on research work by Dr. Liangli (Lucy) Yu and Mark Mueller.
The research work by Dr. Liangli Yu and Mark Mueller demonstrates the ability of several cold pressed oils, namely Black Cumin and Red Raspberry Seed Oil and several seed flours, Black Raspberry and Red Raspberry Seed Flour to more effectively inhibit Cox -2 enzymes than aspirin.
As of this date, the US Patent Office has not responded and no patent has been granted.
